How it works
Most families come to me after weeks of reading conflicting advice online, sitting through school college nights that raised more questions than they answered, and realizing they have no idea where their student actually stands. The first thing I do is slow everything down. Before we talk about schools or essays or deadlines, we figure out who your student is and what they actually want. Everything else follows from that.
Building the foundation
Some families find me in 9th or 10th grade, before the application process is anywhere on the radar. Early work focuses on course selection, extracurricular planning, and building a strong academic profile so that when junior year arrives, your student is positioned well rather than scrambling to catch up. A clear plan, put in place early, makes everything that follows significantly more manageable.
The college list
A good college list isn't long. It's right. I work with families to build a list of 8 to 12 schools that are genuinely well-matched, where your student has a real chance of getting in and a real reason to go. I've visited over 100 campuses and read thousands of applications from the other side of the desk. I know which schools are actually a good fit for a given student and which ones just have a good reputation. Those aren't always the same thing.
The personal statement
The essay is the part most families dread, and it's the part I take most seriously. Every student starts with a 16-page brainstorming document. We go through it together and find the story worth telling. Then your student writes it. I help them shape it, sharpen it, and make it the best version of itself in their voice. No ghostwriting, no AI. The essay that goes out sounds like your kid, because it is your kid.
The rest
of the application
The personal statement gets the most attention, but the supplemental essays, the activities list, the Common App itself, the interview, all of it matters. We work through every piece systematically. Nothing goes out unreviewed. By the time we submit, your student has a complete, polished application that holds together as a whole, not a collection of parts.
What you
can expect
I work with 10 students per graduating class. That means I know where every student is at any given point in the process, I'm responsive when you reach out, and I'm never stretched too thin to give your family real attention. You'll hear from me regularly. You won't have to chase me down for updates.
